A Verse in Color: Knit Cowl Pattern

Updated: Aug 8, 2020

This is a wonderful stitch sampler cowl, knit in fingering weight yarn. It's lovely for gradients or ombre yarn, but as you can see, it works up beautifully in regular color-changing and would be fabulous in the right base in a solid color.

I used Hobby Lobby's Yarn Bee Dee-lish Boutique in the Pinwheel Cookie colorway. It's doesn't look like this yarn is available online, but it's a very soft and somewhat fuzzy lightweight(category 3) yarn made with a blend of alpaca and acrylic. It's a great feel to knit and works up into a beautiful squishy by airy fabric.

It is available in store.

The pattern I used was A Verse in Color by Stephanie Shiman. The pattern instructions are easy to follow, and the whole project is JUST FUN! I highly recommend it if you want a nice blend of interesting and fairly easy. I whipped it up in less than two days because it was so fun I didn't want to put it down. I blocked it to open up the lacework more and straighten the ribbing, as recommended in the pattern.

Not ready to make it now? Pin It for later!
